It is a two-component, chemically curing, solvent-free, moisture-tolerant epoxy.
In historic structures built with masonry, it is a complementary material that strengthens construction materials by being placed inside opened joints, providing tensile strength to the structure and allowing the joints to endure for years. After the strength tapes are applied, the two-component material begins to harden. It is highly resistant to natural effects.
Being a two-component material with alkali resistance and moisture tolerance, it performs its function without losing shape when hardened despite exposure to moisture and humidity.
It is an adhesive chemical resin from the thermoset group. It has very good resistance to water, alkali, and acid. It does not lose its resistance properties over time. Epoxy adhesive applied by saturating the strength tape continuously bonds the surface and prevents stress accumulation.
IZOGİN EP, being a two-component thermoset plastic, cures from liquid to solid within 6 to 8 hours after mixing and matures to its final hardness within 7 days following curing.
The strength tape, made of carbon or glass fiber, gains excellent mechanical durability when combined with IZOGİN EP epoxy.
Before epoxy application, the strength tape should be protected from cement slurry, oil, grease, loose particles, paraffin, mold release agents, and factors that weaken adhesion.
IZOGİN EP is prepared as a two-component, proportionally mixed set. IZOGİN EP A is measured as 3 parts, IZOGİN EP B as 2 parts, poured into a clean container, and mixed with a low-speed mixer for a few minutes. After mixing, the A+B mixture is ready for use. The pot life of the mixture at 25 °C is 30 minutes. This time decreases as ambient temperature rises and increases as temperature falls. Pot life should be considered when adjusting the mixture quantity.
